Whitney Claxton, Action Girl!

Whitney Claxton is not only an up-and-coming DJ but one of the top female go-cart racers in New Zealand. The nineteen year old from Birkenhead is quite the eye catcher and certainly leads an exciting life... Not only is she all of the above but she is also a trained arborist and can climb a palm unaided! Novelty I know, but still cool…

D. Mark Harrison. What’s making you happy in your life right now? 


Whitney Claxton. A lot is making me happy at the moment, I’ve been doing a bit of racing in my go-kart, competed in the Taupo Road race for the first time the other weekend on the Taupo Race Track, 150kph down the 830m straight, it was a lot of fun! I’ve also been doing some DJing and being my first year out of high school, I’m enjoying meeting new people and doing new things. 
 

D.M.H. What’s your thing that makes Auckland cool for you?
W.C. How there’s so much to do! I am able to live it up doing what I love here, like racing my 125cc Rotax go-kart at the two tracks we have here, Mt Wellington Kart Club and Auckland Kart Club.  My love for music, lucky Auckland has a good clubbing scene which attracts some brilliant international talent to our shores! And being the adventurous girl I am, Auckland is likely to deliver on finding things to do!

D.M.H. If you could choose and go live in a Sister City for Auckland where would you choose and why?


W.C. Surfer’s Paradise. It’s a world of opportunities and again is full of what I love! With some seriously tanned bods, jealous!
 

D.M.H. What would be the hardest thing about Auckland for you to quit?

W.C. Friends, all the good times!
 


D.M.H. What’s your creative talent?


W.C. I like to think that I’m reasonably musically creative, even though I’ve lost the patience to re-learn how to play the piano, I have discovered a love for DJing, and am keen to give music production a go. At the moment I own some sexy CDJ400s which I would soon like to upgrade, and have played a couple of sets out, Definitely something I’m going to pursue…the next Carl Cox eh?

D.M.H. What in life is beautiful to you right now?

W.C. Right now? Sitting in front of the nice warm fire with my puppy.
