Britney auditioned for "The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989 TV series) [1989-1994] when she was eight-years-old. Too young to get the part - Britney, her mother and baby sister moved to New York where she starred in several TV adverts and an off broad-way play "Ruthless".

Two years later she auditioned for a part in Mickey Mouse again and this time won the part along with Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake.

In late 1998, her debut single "(Hit me) Baby one more time" was released and was an international pop hit , as was her chart topping debut album - released early in 1999.

Her performance of "Slave" at the MTV VMA's caused outrage among animal rights campaigners, as she performed with a live giant snake.


Her four year relationship with Justin Timberlake ended in 2002.


In 2004, Britney "married" her childhood friend Jason Alexander but the marriage was annulled 55 hours later and was described as "a joke taken too far" by her management.


One of her biggest singles, "Toxic", won her first Grammy as Best Dance Recording in February 2005. She is the youngest female artist in history to have five albums debut at number one - earning her a place in the Guiness Book of World Records.


Britney and Kevin Federline were engaged and in September 2004 they married. On September 14, 2005, they had their first child, named Sean Preston and their second son, Jayden James was born on September 12, 2006. Nine months later she and Kevin Federline divorced and October 2007 she lost custody of her two sons.
