Anna Nicole failed her first year at high school, and dropped out in her sophomore year. After leaving school she worked as a waitress. In 1985, she married the cook at the restaurant, Billy Wayne Smith. In 1986, she gave birth to their son, Daniel Wayne Smith.
After separating from Bill, Anna Nicole spent time working as a stripper. In 1991 she met oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall. In 1994, when Anna Nicole was 26 and Marshall 89, the couple married. A little over a year later, Marshall died. Anna Nicole engaged in a long court battle with one of Marshall's sons for her claim of the late Marshall's fortune.
In 1992 Anna Nicole was chosen by Hugh Hefner to be the March Playboy cover girl. In 1993 she was chosen to be the Playboy Playmate of the Year.
Anna Nicole starred in several low budget feature films in the 1990s. In 2002 Anna Nicole starred in her own reality television show, The Anna Nicole Show. The show ran for two years.
In 2006 Anna Nicole gave birth to her second child, Dannielyn Birkhead. A paternity battle between her attorney, Howard K Stern, and her boyfriend, Larry Birkhead, was played out in the media. Paternity tests proved Birkhead was Dannielyn's father.
On February 8, 2007, Anna Nicole was found dead in a hotel room in Las Vegas. Her death was attributed to an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.
