XY PARTY AT THE WHARF.
We all were a little disappointed when Suzanne Paul's daring Rawaka at the old Fisherman’s Wharf went belly up, weren't we? After all, it was our strong intention to pop over to enjoy a hangi and some carved polystyrene Maori stuff at some point. Its just that we never really got around to it. Oh well.
But if the feisty Englishwoman’s bankruptcy was what it took to get "The Wharf", it was a price well worth paying. For us anyway.
Its hard not to gush about how good The Wharf is as a venue. It is by far the best in Auckland. We arrived with low expectations and left more than impressed.
The occasion was the XY Party. Where Generation X melded with Generation Y to form the perfect party storm. And what a party. Party of the week doesn't come close to describing it!
Safe to say it had the best venue, best Absolut vodka cocktails, best music and the best quality and looking crowd Auckland has on it's A List. Not only this, but the food was exquisite. Gosh, what a gush!
With the sun shining and a balmy evening, The Wharf is better than Icebergs, and thats a big call. Safe to say, we want a repeat of this party in the new year. Ultimately, the general consensus was The Wharf should operate as an exclusive bar on weekend evenings with a ferry from the Viaduct on the hour. Here's hoping Stu & Semele Robertson run with it!

Highlights:
The view on an evening like that was spectacular. It was only topped by the mash served with blow-torched toppings in stainless cocktail glasses courtesy of Executive Chef Justin Rimmer. Delicious.
Lowlights:
Ferries back to the Viaduct would have sealed a perfect night. Cabs just aren’t nearly as much fun.
