Dear Pippa,
Just missed you in Auckland! Please cast your mind back 31 years when Chris Edwards and I arranged for Condor of Bermuda to come to Jeddah for a week. Do you remember??
On Monday I was with a good friend Steve Burrett of the RNZYS on his boat in the Waitamata Harbour for the day. It was then that I learned about your exhibition and sadly Val and I just had no time left to visit as we had to leave for Oz on Wednesday after five great weeks in NZ. We return to UK next Monday.
I often have you in my thoughts after that dreadful business in the Amazon and a couple of years ago I wrote a report on your visit to Jeddah for the Auckland Maritime Museum as this little snippet was missing from the story of Peter. What the Curator did with it I do not know as I have not been to the Museum since.
I understand that you now live on the South Coast of UK; my daughter lives in Surrey and we often visit from our home in Pembrokeshire and Val and I woul;d greatly appreciate visiting you sometime if you feel inclined.
Hopefully this will find you in Queen Street.
With kindest regards and good wishes,
Val and Jon Hodges
