Curry Munchers, a Mahayana Films production, tells the story of Sid, an Indian immigrant recently arrived to New Zealand who is trying to fit in with the crowd. But fitting in is not easy for an Indian boy used to the high life in his home country. Instead of studying to become an engineer, Sid goes behind his parents back and gets a part time job at a restaurant to earn money to give him the independence he craves. There he meets Kiwi girl Alison, wannabe Bollywood actor Sheik and amiable Pandeep, who encourage him to uncover his passion for cooking. Sid's plans take a surprise turn when he and the kitchen crew come to the rescue of the failing restaurant by entering a cook-off competition, which leads to parental deception, conflict over girls, cultural stereotyping and revealing home-truths, all with hilarious results.
