ADAM BENNETT'S BIRTHDAY PARTY AT THE WHARF.
Reviewed by D. Mark Harrison. Ace Party Reviewer.
What a generous young man that Adam Bennett is! Putting on a fantastic 30th birthday party for the A List of Auckland with not a thought to the cost. All we had to do was turn up with some tins of food for the Sallies. And turn up we did, with a veritable cornucopia of foodstuffs of every description, from jars of capers to boxes of Jaffas. Enough to put a West Auckland church’s harvest festival haul to shame!
The party itself was excellent and as per usual The Wharf proved itself to be the best party venue in Auckland. Thankfully (for some), it wasn’t a full-on dance party but rather an actual party. In spite of the cold, everyone was up for a fun time and that’s what happened. The Wharf is superb for talent spotting, with three levels it’s possible to have a good look at all the hot people.
A range of very generous sponsors came forward to spice up the competitive food giving with Samsung giving away a $6,000 TV to Mike Cowie for the biggest food gift and Bearcom donating a Navman to Jason Suttie for second.
The concept known as Kobus Retief took out best dressed bloke with a spray on white outfit. Rumour has it he had to be sewn into his jeans. Josh Olausen also won, though quite why, I don’t know. Hannah Matthews and Tory Kay were the best dressed females.
Highlight.
The crowd was beautifully attired, especially the guys. That doesn’t happen often in Auckland so it’s worth noting.
Lowlight:
The Wharf is a little too pricey. There is a recession on you know!
