Simon Cowell: I'd sign Pippa Middleton on the spot'

Simon Cowell has revealed that he would sign Pippa Middleton up for a TV job 'on the spot'.

The 51-year-old X Factor boss, who has turned down many a potential star in his time, said that if the Duchess of Cambridge's little sister - who became an overnight sensation after being a bridesmaid at the royal wedding - asked for a deal, he wouldn't hesitate.

"I haven't heard her sing, but if she walked in and said, 'I want to be a TV star,' I would sign her on the spot," he told Life & Style. "She has the X factor. To overshadow your sister when she's the one getting married? That was impressive."

He also had some words of wisdom for this year's contestants, "Try and be original. Do a song or a version of a song no one's heard before and don't be afraid to be different."
