Shania Twain reveals moment she confronted friend over affair

Shania Twain relived the painful moment she confronted her friend over her affair with the country star's ex-husband.

Twain told Ellen DeGeneres that when she confronted her secretary Marie-Ann Thiebaud she initially denied the affair with Robert Mutt Lang.

But the truth soon came out and Twain's marriage to the music producer collapsed.

Twain, 45, is now married to Thiebaud's ex-husband, Frederic, whom she tied the knot with in Puerto Rico in January 2011.

"I wanted to give her (Marie-Ann Thiebaud) the opportunity of telling me herself without accusing her, because at this point I was still not sure Fred was exaggerating.

"She said 'No I really have nothing to tell you, I don't know why you think I would hide anything from you.'

"So it unravelled very slowly from there and it just took a long time to deal with and was a very slow grieving process on my end and on Fred's end.

"We slowly became very very good friends. We had many months of trying to make sense of everything, to hold each other up as it was a very difficult time for both of us.

"We were a great support to each other and in the end found something very beautiful and unexpected."

She said, "Now we are married so it is a beautiful story in the end."
