Rooney Mara starts work on first 'Tattoo' film

Actress Rooney Mara has been spotted on the set of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo only weeks after it was revealed she had nabbed the coveted role, according to the Wrap.

Mara landed the part of hacker Lisbeth Salander after intense competition between a bevy of hot young Hollywood actresses.

The 25-year-old's big-screen credits include A Nightmare On Elm Street (2010) and the upcoming movie about Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, The Social Network.

Bond star Daniel Craig will play crusading journalist Mikael Blomkvist in the English adaptation of Stieg Larsson's blockbuster Dragon Tattoo books.

The first instalment will hit theatres in December 2011.
