Roman Polanski premieres new movie in chalet prison

Roman Polanski held a private film premiere while under house arrest.

Polanski, awaiting a Swiss decision regarding extradition to the US, has marked the advent of his new movie The Ghost with a chalet soiree – albeit a rather small one.

The embattled director, 76, watched the movie on DVD with its co-writer, Robert Harris. The movie stars Pierce Brosnan and Ewan McGregor. Polanski was in the middle of making the film – which had its international premiere at the Berlin film festival – when he was nabbed by the Swiss attending a festival in Zurich last year.

Harris said: "He was very happy with it, which was wonderful, but of course I am hugely biased. I don’t know if he is disappointed not to be able to attend the premiere. I imagine he has been to quite a few premieres in his time."
