Paris Hilton's stalker arrested after breaching order

Paris Hilton's stalker has been arrested again - this time for allegedly loitering on a beach outside her Malibu summer home.

James Rainford was convicted of assaulting Hilton's ex-boyfriend Cy Waits outside a court earlier this year and has previously been caught trespassing at her Hollywood home. He was handcuffed by cops and led away from her oceanfront pad on Monday night.

Photographers in the area had alerted police to the 36-year-old's presence, aware that Hilton has a current restraining order against him.

The drama happened on Monday afternoon as the hotel heiress and her showbiz pals celebrated Independence Day at her swish two-storey cottage.

Hilton, who was recently spotted locking lips with Hangover director Todd Phillips, had thrown a beach bash on Saturday with sister Nicky Hilton and long-time friend Brandon Davies.

But her Fourth of July celebrations turned sour when Rainford turned up, at about 4.30pm on Monday.

"He was hanging around on the beach while Paris was inside," said an eyewitness.

"Someone recognised him as being the man who had given her trouble in the past and the cops arrived pretty quickly.

"They checked him out and led him away. He was handcuffed and put into the police car.

"Paris had been out on her balcony that day - it was obvious she was in there. "

A statement from Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said operators had been alerted to a 'suspicious person standing on the beach, looking into Paris Hilton's house'.

It added, "The caller stated he believed the suspicious person was the man he recently saw on the news, who attacked Miss Hilton's male acquaintance.

"Deputies arrived at the call and were contacted by numerous paparazzi.

"They directed the deputies to the suspect, who still stood on the beach, looking into Miss Hilton's house.

"Deputies identified the suspect as James Rainford and determined a valid restraining order prohibiting him from being within 200 yards of Miss Hilton or her residence was in effect."

Rainford was arrested 'without incident' and charged with violation of a protective order.

He was today (tues) in custody and his bail set at $20,000.
