Nicole Richie takes responsibility for her past mistakes

Nicole Richie has taken responsibility for her past mistakes.

The TV star-turned-fashion designer has previously battled with drugs and alcohol addictions and been arrested but she says she only has herself to blame.

The 28-year-old told InStyle magazine: "One thing about me is that I have always taken responsibility for my own actions whether they're good or bad.

"Even when I was going through my tough times, that was a situation I created."

She added: "People ask me, do I blame Hollywood or my parents? No, I don't blame my parents.

"It had nothing to do with them, I created it and manifested it and I got myself through it with help from a lot of great people."

Nowadays Richie is a changed woman having become a devoted mother to her and Joel Madden's children Harlow, two, and nearly one-year-old Sparrow.

Nicole's father Lionel Richie, 61, has recently spoken out about how he is proud of his daughter for turning her life around.
