Miranda Kerr tells sad story behind son's middle name

In an emotional interview, Miranda Kerr fought back tears as she revealed one of her baby son's middle names is that of an Australian boyfriend who died in a car crash when she was 15.

The Victoria’s Secret beauty was dating Christopher Middlebrooke, 18, when he died in 1999.

The 28-year-old wife of Hollywood star Orlando Bloom and mother of Flynn Christopher Blanchard Copeland Bloom was speaking on Australian TV show Sunday Night.

She fought back tears talking about Middlebrooke, saying: “He was my first love. We were young and we talked about everything; having kids and getting married. He died so instantly. It was quite a shock. Flynn’s actually named after Christopher. I wrote him a letter after he died, saying I would name my first child after him and that is what I have done.”

She added: “Orlando was very kind and understanding. He said if you want, you can do that.”

Kerr said she thought Middlebrooke would be proud of her if he were still alive.

Flynn was born in January weighing 10-and-a-half pounds.

She says he is growing every day. “He was literally sucking everything out of me. I was like 'Come on, little man'.”

As to having more kids, she says: “I always thought I would have three children. But at the moment I’m just trying to enjoy Flynn, so we’ll see what happens.”
