Miley Cyrus splits from boyfriend Liam Hemsworth

Teen pop queen Miley Cyrus has split from her Aussie actor boyfriend.

The 17-year-old singer and 20-year-old Liam Hemsworth have gone their separate ways after dating for 15 months.

While Miley’s rep refused to comment on her personal life, Liam’s publicist confirmed the split to a US magazine website. It is not known what caused the break-up.

Miley and Liam – who is best known for playing Josh Taylor in Neighbours – met in 2009 while filming coming of age drama The Last Song.

In March this year, Miley claimed she had not been looking for a boyfriend when she met the Australian TV star at auditions for The Last Song.

“I was actually going through a tough time,” she told US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

“I was like, ‘Guys just need to be out of my life for a little while. I just need to be alone’.

“But I met him and he opened the door for me and I was like, 'I have been in LA for three years and I don’t think any guy has actually opened the door for me'.”

The Party In The USA singer added: “I actually turned to the director and said: ‘He’s got the job. He’s hot and he opened the door. Excellent’.”

Miley has previously dated singer Nick Jonas and model Justin Gaston.
