Michael Jackson museum induction to be hit by protests

Michael Jackson's induction into a US museum will be overshadowed by protests by child abuse survivors.

The singer is set to be inducted into the National Museum of Dance & Hall of Fame in New York in August for his contribution to dance.

But a group that represents people molested as children plans to disrupt the celebration by demonstrating outside the Saratoga Springs venue.

Jackson, who died on June 25, 2009, at the age of 50, was acquitted of child sex abuse charges in 2005.

"Most often a not-guilty verdict means a wealthy defendant had enough money to buy a verdict of 'reasonable doubt'," wrote John Aretakis and the Reverend Robert Hoatson of the group, Road to Recovery Inc, in a letter to the museum

"We know your Hall of Fame may do good work and is trying to secure state and national notoriety, media coverage and significant donations. However, to do so on the backs of childhood survivors of sexual abuse by honouring a paedophile is not a good business decision."

Michael Jackson museum induction to be hit by protests

these people obviously know NOTHING about MJ's background as an abused child, or what he did to HELP abused children - thanks really to the willingness to be spoon-fed by the media who keeps milking allegations against MJ while widely choosing NOT to present facts. the fact is, many of those children who he HELPED are supporting HIM alongside his millions of fans. i can say that without doubt. these people like to make shock-value statements that MJ is being honored on the backs of "abused" children. for that, i say, wow, anyone can make that statement without actually educating themselves (and may their supporting reverend not be falsely accused himself someday). they are USING MJ to make a point that has NOTHING to do with HIM. as a once abused child myself - and that is no joke - i KNOW who abused me. i don't need to use a proven innocent man who has been publicly persecuted for something he did not commit as an example of where justice should be directed. there simply can never be enough 10 year-long FBI investigations coming up empty, alongside the fact that in order for one to be acquitted in a criminal case such as the 2005 case against MJ (which, btw, MJ was indeed treated worse than any murderer), a UNANIMOUS decision must be made. note that the dollar figure that MJ's estate was said to be in debt at the time of death (an estimated $500million) happened to match a very similar amount - that which he gave to charities for the sake and well-being of the lives of children. MJ literally helped THOUSANDS. what more was he supposed to do to prove where his heart lay?! this is all WELL documented for those willing to open their eyes and take the time to better understand the situations surrounding MJ, though hardly a focus for main stream media (just not sensational enough). there are indeed some who would deserve such passionate, seemingly righteous attention for the purpose of combatting such heinous wrongs as abuse toward children (on any level). but the focus on MJ for such a cause is misguided and appears to be more about self-righteousness. this is unfortunate, and i would never support these actions against him (because i do my homework). i was not a fan at the time of MJ's death, i became a fan AFTER what i researched myself extensively. if i had not done my research, and continued to live in ignorance, i would likely be standing alongside the lynch mob at every opportunity.

i find it appalling that these groups would protest their fellow abused child. SHAME ON YOU.

i stand with Michael.
