Michael Douglas 'Standing Up' to cancer

Michael Douglas has joined the celebrity line-up for the upcoming Stand Up To Cancer telethon.

Set to air September 10, a slew of famous faces including George Clooney, Will Smith, Lance Armstrong, Denzel Washington, Renée Zellweger and Gwyneth Paltrow will take part.

Douglas, 64, recently revealed he had been diagnosed with stage-four throat cancer.

As he is not able to travel while he undergoes cancer treatment, he will participate from New York, Access Hollywood reports.

The veteran actor this week opened up to David Letterman about his prognosis, sharing his optimism at beating the disease.

"The percentages are very good. I would hate to say, but right now, it looks like it should be 80 percent, and with certain hospitals and everything, it does improve," Douglas said.

In 2008 the event helped raise more than $100 million for cancer research.
