Lindsay Lohan's ankle monitor replaced after malfunction

Actress Lindsay Lohan's electronic monitoring bracelet has been replaced after a malfunction.

The Mean Girls star was reportedly at home watching TV and reading scripts earlier this week when her monitoring device went off and prompted probation officials to visit her Venice townhouse.

The false alarm was sent less than a week after the 24-year-old started her house arrest.

According to US website Gossip Cop, her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley said in a statement: "When a representative from the monitoring company went to her home, the representative found Lindsay there. The equipment was replaced the following day."

Lohan is expected to serve 35 days of detention.

The confinement is part of the Hollywood star's sentencing after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor charge for stealing a $2,500 necklace from a jewellery shop.
