Lady Gaga is the first person to get 12 million Twitter followers

Lady Gaga has become the first person to gain 12,000,000 Twitter followers.

The Mother Monster scored the monstrous figure on Thursday, July 28, 2011 and has since acquired more than 155,271 extras.

Next in line on the internet fame-o-meter are Justin Bieber, Barack Obama and Katy Perry.

Gaga, 25, is streaks ahead of the No.2 - Canadian teen heartthrob Bieber, 17, by over 721, 651 followers.

The Poker Face singer was also the first to hit 9,000,000 Twitter followers in March 2011. Since then, she has trampled new social-media milestones and is top dog on Twitter Facebook, Myspace and YouTube.

Previously Britney Spears was the long-running Twitter queen but she suffered a drop and is now languishing in fifth place with around 8,719,441 followers.
