Katy Perry makes US pop chart history with fifth No. 1

Singer Katy Perry has made history after shooting to the top of the US pop charts with the fifth single from her album Teenage Dream.

The 26-year-old has become the first artist to have five number ones from the same album dominate the US Billboard Pop Songs Chart after her latest tune Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) hit the top spot.

The other singles are Teenage Dream, California Gurls, Firework, and E.T.

The record was previously held by Justin Timberlake, 30, and Lady Gaga, 25, for their albums FutureSex/LoveSounds and The Fame - which both had four number ones each.

If the wife of British funnyman Russell Brand reaches the top of the older Hot 100 list later this week, she will match Michael Jackson's Bad album, which had five top-hitting songs in 1987.
