Kara DioGuardi is out at American Idol

Kara DioGuardi has been asked to leave American Idol, according to TMZ.com.

The 39-year-old judge has reportedly been fired from the show.

The news comes as fellow judge Ellen DeGeneres has announced that she is leaving the talent competition after just one season.

Idol will reportedly return to a three-judge panel for its tenth season, which starts in January.

And it has been claimed that singer Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith star Steven Tyler will take seats on the panel alongside Randy Jackson.

Kara will only say if the deal with J-Lo falls through, the celebrity site reports.

There has been a lot of speculation as to who will fill media mogul Simon Cowell's shoes since he left the show in May to start work on the US version of X Factor.
