Johnny Depp recording tracks with Steven Tyler

Johnny Depp has revealed that he is recording music with Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler.

The actor and the American Idol judge recently struck up a friendship and have decided to put their heads together and write a few songs.

Depp, who has previously played guitar on tracks by Oasis and Shane McGowan, told Extra, "We've been hanging out here and there. He's someone I've admired greatly for such a long time. The idea of writing songs with him is a dream come true."

Tyler has been quoted as saying if he could choose anyone to play him in a movie, it would be Depp, and the 47-year-old said he would definitely be up for it.

"I would give it a shot, why not," he said.
