Jewel hosts talent show for songwriters

Jewel is hosting a TV talent show for songwriters.

The singer is the host for Platinum Hit, a Bravo TV talent show in which a group of hopeful young songwriters test their craft against one another.

Jewel was joined by Jermaine Dupri, Kara Dioguardi and A&R man Trevor Jerideau in judging the first episode of the show - with Nevin James, 22, from Pittsburgh, the first hopeful to be sent home.

"I was just looking to have had a chance to show some of the songs that are a part of me," he said afterwards.

"I think the world could benefit from them."
