Internet opportunist defends buying Winehouse charity web address

A man who allegedly poached a domain name for a rehab centre in memory of the late Amy Winehouse has defended his actions as a 'business' decision.

Mitch Winehouse last month revealed plans to set up The Amy Winehouse Foundation to help youngsters struggling with drug and drink addictions.

But plans have had to be halted after the name has already been registered as an official company, forcing an angry Mitch to give back donations given to help found the centre.

He Tweeted at the weekend: "We all have to bombard the tabloids websites to put pressure on this d*** head who stole our foundation name."

Now the man, who has been identified as Martin McCann, 58, has explained why he bought it.

He told British newspaper The Sun: "I'm not exploiting anything yet. I've just bought some domain names. Anybody could have. It only takes the click of a mouse. I'm not ashamed or embarrassed. Detach yourself from emotions and think business.

"He is making every effort to hijack this charity to satiate his own needs for the charity. She's not the only Amy Winehouse in the world."

McCann added: "I'm not the d***head. The d***head is sitting over there without the name in his possession."
