Hollywood stars avoid 'Carmageddon'

Hollywood stars plan to avoid “Carmageddon” this weekend by staying at home while one of LA’s most congested freeways is shut down for construction.

Celebrities including Paris Hilton and Tom Hanks have taken to Twitter as a 10-mile strip of the I-405 freeway closed down.

Hilton tweeted: “Hey LA, who's scared of Carmageddon? I'm not leaving my house to drive anywhere this weekend. Traffic is going to be #bRutal!”

Hanks also took to Twitter to advise his followers in LA: “This weekend, LA! Avoid Carmageddon, Gas-zilla, 405-enstein, Grid-lock-apalooza! STAY HOME. Eat & shop local! Hanx.”
