Gary Barlow nervous about ratings for new X Factor series

X Factor judge Gary Barlow said he's nervous about the the audience ratings of the new series of the show.

The Take That singer will be seen for the first time judging the contestants in the launch episode on August 20 alongside his fellow judges Kelly Rowland, Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos.

Walsh is the only existing judge from last year's series after the departure of Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole and Barlow admitted he's hoping the ratings match up to previous series.

He said to BBC Newsbeat: "I feel like X Factor is one of those shows that people are waiting to jump on, to do it down. Everyone will be watching ratings very closely."

He added: "I hope the change is a positive one. There are many reasons I've done this show. The main one is to make a difference and do something which hasn't been done yet."
