Ellen DeGeneres jokes she has become royalty

Ellen DeGeneres, a distant relative of Kate Middleton, has joked that she has become royalty.

The US talk show host has bragged of her very distant link to the new royal.

And on her first show after the wedding, she told viewers: "Because I am 15th cousins with Kate, that means that today I became royalty. I want to wish the best to my cousin Kate and my new cousin Prince William."

She then joked: "So now when I go to the dentist that means I get all my crowns for free!"
