Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi 'enjoy fake, vegan cheese'

Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, are reportedly such strict vegans that they carry around fake cheese to put on their meals.

The couple refuse to eat anything that contains animal products, and were spotted sticking to their guns and saying no to parmesan when they ordered penne arrabiata at Madeo in West Hollywood.

But an onlooker told In Touch magazine that they came prepared with a faux version of the cheese made from soy.

“Ellen whipped out a shaker from her bag and Portia sprinkled it on their pasta,” said the witness. “They seemed very concerned about making sure their meal was 100 per cent vegan.”

And Ellen, 53, has previously admitted that the dairy product was the toughest thing to give up when she became a vegan. “It was hard,” she said. “I loved cheese!”
