Elephant in the room at Richie's wedding

Nicole Richie has married rocker Joel Madden - with an elephant in the room.

The reality TV star walked down the aisle in front of about 130 friends at her father Lionel Richie's Beverly Hills estate on Saturday night.

And guests were amazed to discover an elephant was part of the nuptials.

Nicole, 29, and Good Charlotte star Joel, 31, exchanged rings by jeweller Neil Lane during the winter-themed ceremony as their daughter, Harlow, two, played flower girl.

The couple of four years also have a 15-month-old son, Sparrow.

One insider said: “They wanted an old Hollywood, glamourous feel to their wedding. They're going all-out with the decor. Nicole wanted a memorable, elegant affair for only their closest friends and family on their special day."

Earlier in the day an elephant called Taj was reportedly seen being led on to the lavish property.

Masha Gordon, an old friend of Nicole, is said to have served as maid of honour, while Joel's twin brother, band mate Benji Madden, was best man.

Celebrities Gwen Stefani, Ashlee Simpson and Samantha Ronson were among the guests, as was Khloe Kardashian, who wrote on Twitter from the ceremony: "I love weddings!"

According to reports, Nicole wore a custom-made $20,000 Marchesa gown, while celeb stylist Byron Williams of Byron & Tracey in Beverly Hills did her hair.
