Comedienne Tina Fey has welcomed a baby girl.

The 30 Rock star gave birth to daughter Penelope Athena on Wednesday, according to People.com.

She and her composer husband Jeffrey Richmond already have a five-year-old girl, Alice.

The multiple Emmy-winner joked with chat show host Ellen DeGeneres during her pregnancy that she and her husband would wait to discover the baby's gender saying: "I'm just going to see what it chooses to wear to prom,".

She first revealed her pregnancy to Oprah Winfrey in April, saying she had agonised over choosing the right time to have a second child.

"My husband and I really decided that we felt rather than risk having 30 Rock end in several years and feeling like part of our family is missing that we were going to prioritise our family," she said.
