Coldplay's Chris Martin helped book Beyonce for Glastonbury

Coldplay rocker Chris Martin played a role in booking Beyonce to headline at this weekend's Glastonbury Festival.

The If I Were A Boy singer was wary of performing at the event after her husband Jay-Z was heavily criticised before his appearance in 2008.??

Organiser Emily Eavis has since told the Radio Times that Chris, 34, whose group headline on Saturday, was a key player when they were booking the festival's headliners.??

Emily said: "Chris is a bit wary of people knowing he's been so involved.

"I don't know why because it is actually cool. Chris is as loyal as they come - he'll do anything for Glastonbury. He's really an unlikely frontman. Most people are a bit more all-consumed with their own thing."

Beyonce, 29, is set to top the bill on the final night of the festival, which runs in the UK from June 24-26.
