Chris Isaak to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol?

Musician and actor Chris Isaak has become the leading candidate to fill Simon Cowell’s shoes as a judge on American Idol, according to reports.

The Smallville star, 54, is rumoured to be replacing Cowell, 50, on the talent competition after the media mogul left the show in May to start work on the US version of X Factor.

And now with the 10th season of Idol looming, the Hollywood Reporter has reported that Isaak has twice met with the show’s producers to discuss his potential role as a judge.

Paula Abdul has also been rumoured to be returning to the show after she was spotted with Idol judges Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi.
