Casey Johnson allegedly spent final days living in filthy house with rats running wild

Socialite Casey Johnson spent her final days living in a garbage-filled house with no electricity, water or gas - and rats in the pool, according to US reports.

The New York Post painted a tragic picture of an horrific fall from life as being in line to a multi-billion dollar fortune to living in squalor cut off from her famous family.

According to the paper, Casey, who suffered from diabetes, lived in her rented LA home without basic utilities because she was unable to pay her bills.

Most alarmingly, the Post claims the grounds were overrun by vermin.

A source told the paper: "There are dirty dishes everywhere and rotting food. There is graffiti on the walls. The pool looks like a swamp."

Johnson's own family raised concerns about drug use and tried to get her into rehab - and friends say she surrounded herself with an ominous group of people.

The Los Angeles Coroner's Office said an initial autopsy was inconclusive, although there appeared to be no evidence of suicide or trauma to her body. Toxicology tests could take up to six weeks.
