Carla Bruni douses rumours of extramarital affairs
Carla Bruni doused rumours that she and her French president husband are having extramarital affairs in a touching Sky News interview.
The French First Lady and former supermodel called her relationship with Nicolas Sarkozy a "real fairytale". She said President Sarkozy was faithful and would never cheat on her.
"He would never have affairs," she said. "And have you ever seen a picture of him having an affair? Ah, so."
When asked whether she thought her marriage would last forever, Bruni paused before saying: "I guess marriage should be forever, but, um, who knows what happens. I wish it was forever, that's my hope, but we could be dead tomorrow."
Rumours have been swirling in France that Bruni is having a tryst with a French musician, while Sarkozy is involved with his ecology minister Chantal Jouanno.
