Britney Spears to appear on Glee special episode

Britney Spears is set to appear in a special episode of Glee dedicated to her music.

Glee's co-creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed that the singer will star in a couple of scenes in the “Britney episode” of the hit TV show.

Murphy told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show earlier today: "Britney, I think 100 per cent, is going to be on the episode."

And Murphy revealed that “fun Britney stuff” happens when the Glee club are anaesthetised at the dentist and hallucinate about the pop princess.

He said: "They have fantasies of how they can be like her."

But Murphy, who also directed Julia Roberts' new film Eat, Pray, Love, insisted that the episode is not about the 28-year-old’s personal life.

He said: "The Britney episode, I am here to say, is so reverential about her. It's about her music and it's not about her personal life."

He added: "Britney Spears is pop culture, and I think she has been through a lot.

"I want to do something that just sort of says… 'Thank you for what you have done and we are encouraging you to continue to be doing as fantastic as you are'… We're handling Britney with kid gloves."
