Billy Joel rules out Glee appearance

Billy Joel may have given the go-ahead for Glee to feature his music, but don’t expect the Piano Man to be putting in an appearance on the hit show.

Joel told Access Hollywood that he has granted permission for his repertoire to be used by the multiple Emmy Award-nominated series.

“All I know is I said, ‘Yeah! Go ahead. Use my stuff’. I was in a chorus when I was in high school, why not?” Joel said.

But despite a number of chart-topping performers including Britney Spears and Olivia Newton-John having guest-starred on the Fox series, the legendary singer-songwriter is not keen to follow suit.

“I’m just not a big TV actor type of guy, I’m a piano player,” the 61-year-old explained.
