Bill Clinton's words of encouragement to Tiger Woods

Former US president Bill Clinton has offered words of encouragement to Tiger Woods.

People magazine reports that it confirmed with a presidential spokesman a Golf Digest report the pair had spoken on the phone.

Just when the phone call took place is not known. "President Clinton spoke with Tiger and wished him well," said Matt McKenna.

Also not known are details of how the phone call came about. Clinton was hit with infidelity allegations during his career and famously impeached for a dalliance with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

A Dalliance?
