Beyonce slapped with $100 million lawsuit
Beyonce has been slapped with a $100 million USD lawsuit by a video game manufacturer who accuse her of acting like a "diva grinch".
Gate Five lLC sued the Crazy in Love star over claims she backed out of a deal to appear in dance game, Starpower: Beyonce.
The suit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court in New York, alleges the singer suddenly asked for more money for her role in the title last December, which was due to hit shelves in November 2011.
The lawsuit alleges: "[It was] a bad faith breach of contract so callous that, on what appeared to be a whim, she destroyed Gate Five's business, and drove 70 people into unemployment, the week before Christmas."
A Gate Five spokesperson told the New York Post: "It was a very shocking and disappointing turn of events that no one saw coming, and now we're all trying to pick up the pieces."
The suit claims that Beyonce, 29, who had "already negotiated lavish compensation" for the game, made an "extortionate demand for entirely new compensation" at a "crucial moment in the project's development," causing the main financier to back out.
A representative for the multiplatinum-selling singer, who shot to fame in group Destiny's Child before going solo, was unavailable for comment.
