Anna Nicole Smith tale turned into opera

The tabloid tale of Anna Nicole Smith will be turned into opera.

Smith's life and sensational death in 2007 are deemed perfect creative material for the British Royal Opera which will debut a work about her life next year. Composer Mark-Anthony Turnage and writer Richard Thomas will collaborate on the project, which will be directed by Richard Jones, Reuters reports.

Thomas was a co-creator of Jerry Springer: The Opera which drew thousands of complaints and street protests when it was aired in 2005.

Smith, whose roller-coaster life has been chronicled on film, died suddenly at the age of 39 of a prescription drug overdose that has spun off several court battles. But Thomas said he would veer away from the court trial over the paternity of her daughter Dannielynn.
