My hot BURTON snow gear & the Speight's Dog Derby
So I might still need a learners sticker on my snowboard but I certainly looked the part on the mountain thanks to Burton Snowboards and Higher Ground. (Big ups Mr Alty for helping a snow girl out!)
My snowboard was fresh off the shelf, not a scratch on her... The amazing neo colours and pop art detail reminded me somewhat of Lady Gaga. My get up included a dark grey Burton jacket and black n pink 80's BMX style gloves that were super thin and warm. Of course finished off with racey hot-pink goggles.
My board was set up perfectly by Amy and the team at Quest and Select in Shotover Street.Go in and see these guys for all your gear purchases and rentals, they know their stuff!
Opening day at Coronet Peak was certainly a buzzy one. Many of the tourists thought they would have to leave town without any mountain action, so several that I talked to on the chairlifts were stoked to be up skiing and boarding for the day. I was one such tourist!
And it wasnt just snow bunnies having fun, local farmers and queenstown residents flooded up to Coronet Peak with their trusty pooches to take part in the Speight's Dog Derby. This is a fun race that sees dogs of all shapes and sizes racing to the finish. A great day out for any family of dog lovers!
