So who gave most value to the Auckland scene. Beckham by miles. Where was the tiny Miss Kylie? Did anyone see her outside of preforming at Vector Arena? If it hadnt been for a gossip columnist staking her out at SkyCity Grand, she would have come in and out of Auckland, with not so much of whisper to the public. No interviews, no pressing the flesh, no meet and greet, she may as well not bothered. Beckham on the other hand, you just couldn't help but bump into him. He met fans, shook hands, chatted to chicks, went to the gym, hung out at Spy and had a beer. He was a regular around town and settled in nicely. Ok.. so the Auckland Regional Council stuffed up and it cost the tax payers heaps bringing him out, but he did his bit and more to get bums on seats. The only people who made money from Beckham in the long run was the local paparazzi, selling pics of him out jogging, jumping off the harbour bridge and bidding on auction items at a charity ball. Maybe the ARC should secretly employ snappers to pap celebs that they bring to town and go splits on the money they make, at least they will make a few bob.
