A year of it

Xmas CougarIn January of 2009 I turned 35, which apparently is the starting age of a Cougar. I had always dated and slept with younger men, but after my birthday, there was an air of formalisation about the title.

I embraced it, and in February (just before Valentines Day actually) I bedded a 21 year old American tourist, who had been in the country a matter of hours. Quite a good start I thought, at the time the 14 year age difference was the largest gap I had achieved at that point, smashing my previous record of 12 years (34 and 22) that had been set about a year before.

In March came Bored Housewives (22 years old), and I received the first comment on my blog, which implied (actually just came out and said) that the reason Bored stood me up a few times since we first had sex was because I was ‘an old lady’ who ‘didn’t live up to his fantasy’ and that he probably had ‘a firm young girlfriend’. Since then however, Bored has constantly contacted me, at one point when I was going out with one of the 33 year olds, begging to come to my work and have sex with me. He begged for 4 hours. I didn’t let him.

April saw me have sex with a university RA (22 years old) in his dorms while I was out of town on business, found I couldn’t get out in the morning and had to get Twink to supply me with a neck scarf to hide the giant hickey Mister RA had given me. Classy.

Also in April I got myself a boyfriend (24 years old) but by late May he had dumped me via text. In June I asked myself why I like to go out with younger men. The conclusion I came to was that it is perhaps I have self-destructive motives; it is highly unlikely that I will find a considerably younger man who is after the same things as I am at my age. We are forced to run any relationship between us on my timetable, and when they realise that this means doing things that they are perhaps not ready for, they bolt. The slew of comments that followed included ‘I think it is strange when a woman of a certain age is attracted to young guys, it some how makes me think they have some issues’, and a comment from a Hurt Cougar, who I advised to get another cub, knowing ‘you were a great lover, you no doubt have a great body, and this guy is just a toss pot.’

By July I was sleeping with 24 year old again, much to my disgust; an A lister advised me that there were ‘MANY more 24 year olds in the sea. If you must sleep with someone, don't go back to the ex’. I stopped seeing the 24 year old after I went to his house and discovered the other party there for dinner was his new girlfriend. I met a cute 22 year old at a party, and had sex with him. We will call him Pash, because he emerges again later. I also had sex with an 18 year old at this time, making my age difference record 17 years.

In August I began dating PT (33 years old). My apathy concerning him spawned such comments as ‘You don't sound like a sexy, self empowered woman to me you sound sad and insecure’, ‘sounds like PT deserves more than you are offering’ and my fave, ‘you are insecure and lonely old woman, grow up!’ After PT there was another 33 year old  (referred to as ‘the last 33 year old’ in my blogs, even though he wasn’t), who I saw for 2 months before we split, and another 33 year old for 3 days, who hardly counts. That was it for trying people close to my age for this year, and obviously three was a good number to leave the 33 year olds on. Dating men in that age group didn’t seem to be any better than dating cubs, so in late November I began dating Cain (23 years old), whom I am still seeing.

At different points throughout the year I repeatedly been have been contacted by and begged to have sex with Bored Housewives, boy who still sends me pix of his penis, Pash, and most recently the last 33 year old. He knows I am seeing Cain, but thinks this should not hinder us hooking up whenever it suits him. Bad news for him I guess.

So that is my year: in order, 21, 22, 22, 24, 22, 18, 33, 33, 33, 23, and comments the full range of the love/hate spectrum. If the spread had a bit more variety in it, I might have gotten a Lotto ticket using those numbers. This is Cougar, signing off for 2009 – more blogs in the New Year, when I hope to have juicier tid-bits to share with you.

Grr!
